Bureau Of Innovation’s debut London showcase, AGAINST NATURE was staged on the occasion of PAD / Frieze, presented in partnership with London art dealers Lindon & Co. Set within an ornate seven-storey Mayfair residence, Against Nature draws on ideas of decadence, excess, and the tension between artifice and reality. The presentation brought together designers from diverse disciplines, united by a shared command of material and form. Their works respond to the setting and its thematic decadence through acts of experimentation and expression. In parallel, LINDON & CO. curate artworks that mirror this heightened sensibility. AGAINST NATURE takes its name from Joris-Karl Huysmans’ decadent novel À Rebours - a retreat into a hyper-controlled world of sensory indulgence, symbolic décor, and aesthetic excess. Bringing together art and design, BOI imagined a world where pleasure is intellectualised, and materiality becomes a vessel for desire, nostalgia, and introspection.
