Description Drawing in Pablo Picasso's career is of considerable importance, both a logbook and a "life journal" it is through it that he records all his ideas and thoughts. Used to illustrate his great subjects such as "Guernica" or "War and Peace", paper was also a tool that allowed him to create drawings with great thematic freedom. A pretext for research and plastic experiments, they are often inspired by his entourage and loved ones. Dated August 27, 1967, in the middle of summer, the present drawing is a perfect testimony of the works made by Picasso at the end of his career. At that time the artist did not hesitate to represent nudity explicitly by integrating it into subjects of everyday life. Here, Picasso is certainly inspired by a naturist beach of the South of France where he spent most of his life. Lying on the sand, a family lounges quietly in the sun while a bearded man walks along the shore. With sharp, vivid pen strokes, Picasso depicts his figures in their simplest form. Unlike other works of this period marked by strong eroticism, this drawing shows nudity in an unequivocal way. Picasso chooses voluntarily to represent a naturist beach, a place sometimes considered as taboo in our society. The spectator is thus puzzled by this summer scene. The nude was always present in the work of Picasso marking a turning point at each time of his life. The study of the body is a means that allows him to assert his artistic vision and his thoughts of the moment.
