STAMPA MIRROR

SOPHIE DRIES

The Stampa collection by Sophie Dries plays on the idea of union: that of craftsmen, cabinetmakers and metalworkers, and that of several materials, wood, plaster and Corten steel powder . This project refers to a purism and an original approach to the contrast between raw and noble materials... Sophie sees her projects as an alchemical encounter between diverted materials, but always with an obvious use and human know-how highlighted.

Architect and designer Sophie Dries founded her Paris studio in 2014, later expanding to Milan. A graduate of ENSA Paris-Malaquais and Aalto University, with additional training in Contemporary Art at L’École du Louvre, she honed her craft with Jean Nouvel, Pierre Yovanovitch, and Christian Liaigre before establishing her own practice. Her work spans architecture, collectible design, and ceramics, with pieces presented at Salone del Mobile, PAD London, The Salon Art + Design New York, and exhibited by Nilufar (Milan), Giustini /Stagetti (Rome), and L’Eclaireur (Paris & LA). Dries approaches each project through the Genius Loci—the spirit of place—merging heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary sensibility. Influenced by the Enlightenment and Arte Povera, her aesthetic unites natural materials, artisanal expertise, and refined modernity. Named among AD’s Top 100 Designers (2022) and featured in Phaidon’s World’s Best Interior Designers, Sophie Dries continues to shape private residences, boutiques, and cultural spaces from her studios in Paris and Milan.
